Coach Training Isn't Just For Professionals

Here are 5 other people groups we have seen benefit from coaching certification.

Parents

What a surprise! So many alumni took the training for another reason, but it has significantly affected their parenting. Whether their kids are preschoolers or full-blown adults, coaching shifts not only the conversation but especially the results!

Friends

Ever have a friend that keeps talking to you about the same thing(s) over and over. It's like they are stuck on repeat with the situation they are facing. A couple good coaching questions could change everything!

Adult Children

Talking to your parents about decisions they need to make as they age can be difficult. Coach training gives you the conversational tools to help create awareness without telling others what to do.

Business Leaders

Coaching isn't only for spiritual growth. Collaborative and self-motivated goal affiliation affects buy-in, productivity, longevity, camaraderie, and other vital markers in an organization....

Coach Training Isn't Easy -- But It Is Totally Worth It!

...In fact, you should probably think it through before you consider it.

It’s not easy changing a personal paradigm, and almost everyone needs to make major adjustments.

It’s costly, not just monetarily, but it will take time and effort. It’s intense.

To be honest, it’s humbling.

It’s one thing to affirm the concept in theory and another to put its values into regular practice.

BUT IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Coaching changed my life AND it has changed the people around me.

Here are some ways I have seen it actually accomplish end goals that would never have happened if I had not taken coach training.

  • Interactions with family are different now.
    * Marriage: One of the best surprises in my coach training was how it affected my marriage. I didn’t see that coming as I simply intended to use coaching in ministry, but what a wonderful asset it is to be able to love my husband more by listening well, believing in him, and hearing how the Holy Spirit is...

Serendipity Brought Us Together. Is It Calling You? (Guest Blog by Michelle Pavasars)

“So, what do you do?”

A simple question asked of the woman sitting beside me at a wedding rehearsal over five years ago.

A simple question that launched me into the next thing God was calling me to in my coaching journey.

I am the bride’s childhood best friend. She, the groom’s sister-in-law. Now we journey together in this world of coaching… believing in the serendipity, or “God-incidence,” of that day… embracing the joy of walking alongside others as they seek change, growth, and transformation.

God continues to unfold my coaching journey one step at a time.

That moment five years ago introduced me to Cindy Scott and led me to Bridges Coaching. I began with the Destiny by Design course, and simply kept saying, “yes” to each next thing… Coaching Training, Accelerated Coach Training, being a peer pair facilitating coach, the NXL Advanced Coach Training, and various coaching opportunities along the way.

What You Will Get, Or Miss From Coaching Training (Guest Blog by April Lonneville)

Editor's Note: April facilitates the Destiny by Design cohorts as well as peer pairs for Coaching Culture. She and her husband John have four girls and live in upstate NY. Our Destiny by Design course will help you unlock the personal path God has created for you, and learn how to lead others in finding their destiny as well. Simply put, we believe when you know who you were designed to be you know who you are meant to become.

Most days were pretty good overall. We had a fairly consistent routine that kept things running smoothly. Smooth like that one road with the potholes and unexpected bumps that make you spill your hot coffee on your white pants (not that moms actually wear white pants, but you get what I am saying.)

I didn’t expect this season of high demand 'momming' to be easy. I expected having 4 girls would be messy and joyfully exhausting. But, this level of frustration that seemed to happen between 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm had to change.

I wanted more...

The 3 Most Transformative Things Coaching Taught Me (Guest Blog by Sarah Fulton)

Editor's Note: Sarah Fulton facilitates the Coaching Certification cohorts for Bridges Coaching. She and her husband Jordan live in upstate NY with their 5 children. Her heart for coaching comes out in every area of her life and she helps others grow to their full potential.

I have a confession... I have always been kind of scared to parent teenagers.

Maybe it’s all the horror stories: “Oh, they’re cute now, but just wait until they’re teenagers!”, “They’ll turn into little monsters that you can’t wait to get rid of...

Have you heard those too?

I knew God had more for me during this season of parenthood.

He wanted to equip me to navigate it well; I just had no idea I’d find powerful tools for parenting in coach training.

My first coaching course was intended for ministry training. I wanted to learn the most effective way to help people navigate transitions and grow quickly -- and it did that!

I still believe that...

Even If Someone Asks For Advice, The Best Way To Help Them Grow Is Through Coaching

Telling > Teaching > Training > Trusting

That’s the growth paradigm we unpack in Coach Training.

Seems so simple at first glance. It goes like this:

When a child is young we tell them, “You can’t cross the road!

Then we teach them, “Don’t cross the road without looking - there may be cars coming!

Training comes next, where we teach them to look both ways and ask them if there are cars coming.

Then comes the day when we trust them and let them ride their bike to a friend’s house on their own and eventually “confidently” give them car keys, etc.

Easy right?

But what about topics where the stakes are much higher.

How does it work with issues like choosing a mate, career choices, financial investments, or even walking out a life of faith?

Often when parents of adult children have questions or concerns they revert back to telling or teaching.

It’s easy to do.

You have such deep concern about your adult...

8 Ways Bridges Differs From Other Training Courses

Simply put, our Bridges training courses were designed with you -- the trainee -- in mind.

Here are 8 ways Bridges courses differ from many, or even most, training courses.

No. 1 -- At Bridges, we take very seriously how we certify our trainees.

All our cohort courses require individual interaction where we are looking for each person’s grasp of the concepts.

No. 2 -- We give personal attention to the trainee.

All of our training is face-to-face, not voice-to-voice. Not sure what that means? Many, maybe even most, coach training or destiny discovery courses meet the credentialing requirement for voice-to-voice through group phone calls.

No dis, but I have been on some of those phone calls and have not had the greatest experience. While technically it is live training, there were almost always too many people on the call to feel individually connected, AND oftentimes the trainer would ask someone to respond and they were not even there or it took a long time for them to...

5 Fears All Good Leaders Have

We all have them, or at least we should.

Good leaders want to hit the mark. They want to make a difference. They want to be worthy of following. Good leaders want to help others toward achieving clear goals and helping them get there in the best way possible.

That being said – here are five fears all good leaders have.

  1. Fear of missing the mark.
  2. Fear of being status quo.
  3. Fear of leading people in the wrong direction, or maybe just not the best direction.
  4. Fear of nebulous targets.
  5. Fear of a floundering pathway.

These healthy “fears” should fuel good leaders toward good leadership!

Yet most of us have probably had experiences where the goals were not inspiring and action steps were not actually clear. Sometimes, it seems we need to go back to a document or email to remember where we were going or what we supposed to be doing.

Good Coach Training will clear up these concerns and alleviate these fears once and for all!

Before understanding the coaching...
